Herbert L. Ledbury

Herbert L.  "Herb" Ledbury, age 86 of rural Blue River, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born September 1, 1939 in Waterloo Township Grant County, WI, son of the late E.J. and Pearl (Kress) Ledbury. He married Janice Jerrett on April 7, 1962 at the United Methodist Church in Lancaster. She preceded him in death on June 22, 2024.

His love for horses started at an early age and continued until his passing. There wasn’t a horse that he wasn’t willing to ride, the more of a challenge the more he loved the ride. He would drive many miles hauling horses to go on a trail ride or a horse auction. When he would take the grandkids to Waukon Horse Sale, you would get out late and always have to stop at Tony’s for a burger on the way home.  He liked going to auctions and seeing what things would go for. When going for car rides, he would always take a “short cut” where he would wander down and look at the scenery. You never knew what “deals or good finds” you may find alongside the road. 

He is survived by sons, Jeffrey Ledbury of Blue River and Curtis Ledbury of Blue River, 7 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, brother John Ledbury of Brookfield, sister Betty Jean Ledbury of Boscobel, along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister-in-law Ann Ledbury, and daughter-in-law Suzanne Ledbury. 

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, February 16, 2026 at the Kendall Funeral Home, 209 Mary Street, Boscobel. Pastor Joel Mueller officiating. Burial will take place in the Rock Church Cemetery in Livingston, WI. Friends may call on Monday, February 16, 2026 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service.
